Our 14-storey retirement residence was established in 2000, and offers 86 Independent Living suites in a variety of styles. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Recreation, a Recreation Volunteer assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for our residents. Your contribution will help our residents to participate in activities that enhance their health and wellbeing while inspiring them to live life to the fullest!

Key Responsibilities may include:
• Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents, in collaboration with the Director of Recreation and staff
• Maintain effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, and other volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events;
• Assisting with bus outings;
• Preparing, carrying out, leading and/or assisting in daily activities;
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do:

Collaborate – Work with the Director of Recreation, residents and staff to develop engaging recreation programs that meet the needs of the residents.

Roll-up your sleeves – To facilitate meaningful recreational activities and leisure programs.

Comply – Ensure policies, procedures, processes and systems are in place and being monitored.

Cultivate –To promote Resident autonomy, independence and advocacy, including Residents’ rights and a culture of non-abuse.

Partner- Build meaningful partnerships with residents and residence employees

Skills Required What You Bring: • Previous experience working with seniors; or in an adult wellness program • Excellent oral and written communication skills; • Energy, compassion, and a love for working with the elderly; • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS). • Values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion & Excellence
