Job Description

🎀 WE Toastmasters is the only club in SK & AB mentoring youth (12-17) in public speaking & leadership!

Skills Required Skills needed to be a youth public speaking mentor and or immigrant mentor include: -Effective Communication: Ability to clearly explain concepts and provide constructive feedback. -Patience: Understanding that youth may need time to develop their skills. -Encouragement: Motivating and supporting youth to build confidence in their speaking abilities. -Active Listening: Paying attention to the mentee’s needs and concerns. -Adaptability: Tailoring guidance to suit different learning styles and levels. -Public Speaking Experience: Having a strong foundation in public speaking to model techniques. -Leadership: Guiding and inspiring youth to take initiative and lead. -Empathy: Relating to the challenges youth face and offering understanding and support. -Organizational Skills: Planning sessions and setting goals to track progress. -Cultural Awareness: Respecting and embracing the diverse backgrounds of youth participants. -Experience in Toastmasters would be an asset but not a requirement. Mentor Responsibilities Overview: -Attend club meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Saskatchewan time via Zoom. -Meet with your mentee once a month for a 'check-in' or to support them in building their speeches and preparing for meeting roles (15 - 30 mins) by Zoom. -Time commitment: 2:30 -3:00 hours per month. -Commit to be a mentor for a minimum of one year. Onboarding Process: -Fill out the registration form for a 12-month membership with WE Toastmasters to access the Youth Speechcraft Program/Pathways Learning Program -Send an e-transfer of $250 to wetoastmasters4406@gmail.com ($220 Toastmasters/WE club fees + $30 new member fee) -Attend a one-to-one training in the first week or otherwise agreed-upon time -Review onboarding videos and set up a profile on: WE Toastmasters - FTH Tutorial Toastmasters International - Tech for Toastmasters -Review the students' Speechcraft Workbook and/or Pathways Learning Program -Download Signal (club communication app)
