Position Title | Volunteer Peer Support Group Facilitator |
Job Description | We are seeking a Volunteer Peer Support Group Facilitator for our Support Group based in Saskatoon. During meetings, members share information, best practices and support one another on issues affecting people living with MS. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm CT and are currently running virtually but there is potential for in person meetings to resume once safe to do so and location is sourced. As Volunteer Peer Support Group Facilitator, you will use a self-help model to foster a safe, caring environment so that group members will feel comfortable dealing with their issues and concerns regarding the ways in which MS affects their lives. Skills Required | - Excellent communication and listening skills - A strong sense of ethics and appropriate peer-to-peer boundaries - Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information - Capacity to work as part of a team and in a one-to-one support role - A commitment to attend all meetings, except in times of illness or other exceptional circumstances - Ability to ensure a cohesive and safe environment that allows all participants to speak freely and have equal opportunities to engage |
