Annual Campaign is over halfway to its goal
Campaign season is upon us and the many teams of United Way workplace volunteer fundraisers are once again energizing meeting rooms with impact speakers, challenging peers to pledge their support for our community, creating friendly competitions between departments, running raffles and bingos, and even selling donuts, parking spots, or a day in jeans in support of United Way.
Every year, United Way Saskatoon and Area makes a pledge of support to our community service partners throughout the city, but starts from zero dollars to fill that pledge. Thanks to United Way's incredible network of volunteers and donors, we can make this pledge and our partners can rely on us to deliver on our promise. By working together, we can realize our vision of a community where everyone has opportunities to realize their full potential.
But we can't do any of this without your support. Today, we are halfway to our campaign goal of $3.5 million. If you have the means, please consider once again pledging your support to our community partners and make a donations today. Your investment supports dozens of local initiatives focused on strengthening our community, making is safer and better for everyone.
No amount is too small. Just a few dollars can make all the difference for someone needing access to a meal or transportation to critical medical appointment. You can be that difference.

Candace Laing leads Board Effectiveness and Outcomes Monitoring event
United Way was happy to host a Board Effectiveness & Outcomes Monitoring. This unique event was organized for the Board Members, CEOs, and Executive Directors of United Way funded agencies.
Non-profits thrive thanks to the remarkable leadership of volunteers who guide governance processes and help fulfill agency missions. This training explored key attributes of effective boards, strategies for outcomes monitoring, and how to transition from a 'working board' to a 'governing board.'
A heartfelt thank-you to our volunteer presenter, Candace Laing, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, for sharing her expertise, and to everyone who braved the cold to attend. Your commitment to strengthening our local community is truly inspiring.

Transforming non-profit governance
Dozens of non-profit leaders joined the "Building Tomorrow" research and practice summit in October. The goal of the event was to begin working towards meaningful changes in the form and function of governance in the community service sector.
Attendees had a chance to learn more about current research on ED and board relationships, diversity and inclusion, board structures, and volunteerism. They also had a chance to engage in developing next steps through workshops aimed at moving the findings forward in our community.
Thank you to everyone who attended. Your contributions are building a stronger, more caring community.
A special thanks to our partners, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon Community Foundation, and Sask Nonprofit for helping us bring everyone together.
