As a volunteer with Prairie Hospice Society, you will:

Provide free, non-medical support to palliative clients, offering companionship and emotional presence.
Assist clients in their end-of-life journey by supporting a variety of activities tailored to their needs.
Offer respite care to give caregivers a much-needed break.
Provide transportation to and from appointments or errands as needed.
Help clients live more fully and stay in their homes longer, supporting their independence and dignity.
Deliver compassionate, client- and family-centered care for those facing advanced illness, death, and bereavement.
Offer support wherever the client calls home, as part of our “hospice without walls” service.
All of the above can look different depending on your personalized match or choice of provided activities. Volunteers enjoy flexibility in how they contribute, with options tailored to their strengths and interests.

To make participation easy, we use an online scheduling system where you can sign up for activities, manage your availability, and engage in volunteer support and training sessions. Volunteers receive comprehensive training before being matched with a client to ensure they feel confident and prepared in their role.

Confidentiality: A deep commitment to maintaining the privacy of all information. Commitment & Reliability: A willingness to commit to at least one year of volunteering and attend all training sessions. While we offer flexibility and understand holidays and personal needs, this commitment is vital to building meaningful relationships with clients and working effectively with our small, dedicated team.
