Position Title Youth Program Volunteer – Meadowgreen Community Development
Job Description

Support culturally responsive programming for diverse youth ages 8-15 in Meadowgreen through hands-on facilitation and mentorship. Volunteers assist with Monday gym nights (6-8pm) featuring sports and team-building activities, and/or Wednesday after-school programs (3-5pm) including cooking, arts, crafts, and homework support. Responsibilities include supervising activities, building positive relationships with youth, facilitating inclusive participation across cultural backgrounds, and supporting sharing circles. Volunteers help create safe, welcoming spaces where young people develop skills, confidence, and cross-cultural friendships. Comprehensive online training of Plant-to-Protect will be provided. Flexible scheduling available – commit to one day weekly or drop-in as available.

Skills Required - Genuine interest in youth development and community service - Respect for cultural diversity and willingness to learn from Indigenous, newcomer, and settler perspectives - Ability to engage positively with youth from various backgrounds - Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers - Good communication and active listening skills - Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm - No prior experience necessary - training provided - Criminal record check required (vulnerable sector)
