Position Title Literacy Support Volunteer – Meadowgreen Literacy Pilot Program
Job Description

We are seeking volunteers—from high school students to retired teachers and all community members who want to make a meaningful difference—to support children in Grades 2–4 who are reading below grade level.
Volunteers will provide one to one reading support to children participating in the Meadowgreen Literacy Pilot Program. This initiative aims to strengthen reading confidence, build foundational literacy skills, and support children who have been disproportionately affected and experience learning declines. Volunteers are essential to creating a safe, encouraging environment where children can thrive.
Volunteers will receive training through Supporting Reading Success, a 2 hour workshop delivered by Foundations Learning to equip you with practical reading support strategies and tools.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide one on one reading support to children in Grades 2–4
• Build positive, encouraging relationships that foster confidence and engagement
• Follow simple reading strategies and activities provided during training
• Support weekly literacy sessions during the Feb–Mar 2026 pilot period
• Early evenings on weekdays depending on volunteer availability
• Maintain communication with the program coordinator for support and updates

Skills Required • Patience, empathy, and interest in supporting children • Basic reading fluency • High school students are welcome; retired teachers and seniors are strongly encouraged • Criminal Record Check required Training Requirements All volunteers must complete: • Supporting Reading Success (2 hour volunteer training) o Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2026 o Time: 5:30–7:30 PM o Location: To Be Announced Training is designed for all backgrounds—no teaching experience required.
