About the Role
United Way Saskatoon and Area (United Way) is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Manager, Labour Partnerships to help strengthen and advance our long-standing partnership with the labour movement. This role is central to building meaningful relationships within organized labour, supporting collaborative initiatives, and increasing labour engagement in fundraising, community impact, and volunteer leadership.
Working closely with the Saskatoon & District Labour Council, United Way Centraide Canada, and the Canadian Labour Congress, the Manager, Labour Partnerships acts as a trusted connector, advisor, and advocate, helping bring community impact and labour values together to create lasting change.
Key Responsibilities
Labour Programs & Services
- Build, steward, and strengthen relationships with labour stakeholders across the Saskatoon region
- Act as a consultant and resource on labour participation in fundraising and community impact work
- Promote and deliver Labour Community Advocate training and other labour-related education initiatives
- Oversee national and local labour partnership initiatives, including the Period Promise campaign
- Support and resource the Labour Advisory Committee of the United Way Board
- Participate in Saskatoon & District Labour Council meetings in an ex-officio capacity
- Support and help plan joint partnership and labour events (e.g., Labour Day, Day of Mourning, community service awards)
- Provide labour expertise and relationship support to United Way’s Resource Development and Community Impact teams
Relationship Building & Engagement
- Build endorsement and support for United Way initiatives within the labour community
- Develop collaborative relationships with partners, donors, volunteers, and stakeholders
- Represent United Way at labour meetings, conferences, events, and community gatherings
Planning, Communications & Innovation
- Participate in annual partnership and organizational planning
- Present United Way’s value in ways that resonate with labour and inspire action
- Help identify, recruit, and support labour representatives for United Way volunteer roles
- Ensure labour volunteers are well-prepared and supported in representing both labour and United Way
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned
- Communicate emerging issues and opportunities to the CEO
- Ensure compliance with United Way policies, procedures, and applicable legislation
Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in relationship management, stakeholder engagement, or customer service
- Union member in good standing (required)
- Demonstrated experience in the labour movement
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and sustain long-term, collaborative relationships
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- Experience working respectfully and inclusively with diverse communities
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Ability to pass a criminal record check and be bondable
Work Environment
- Office-based role with frequent meetings and events throughout Saskatoon and area
- Uses Windows-based systems, MS Office, and CRM databases
- Flexible schedule required to accommodate community and labour events
