United Way of Saskatoon along with our dedicated labour partners are proud to host the 5th Annual Tampon Tuesday collection drive.
The need continues to grow for access to menstrual products in Saskatoon and surrounding areas. Accessibility and distribution challenges are heightened due to forced closures of schools and in-person social programing around our city.
We need your support.
Due to pandemic restrictions, we will not be hosting an in-person event again in 2021. We also recognize the fact that collection drives may be difficult for some workplaces, unions and organizations. The unfortunate reality is that there was an overwhelming need for free product pre-COVID. That need has only intensified since March 2020.
3 Ways to Get Involved
There are 3 easy ways you can support the need for menstruation products right here in Saskatoon with Tampon Tuesday
1.
During the entire month of March collect menstruation products with your friends, family, and/or colleagues. Schedule a contact free collection pick-up by contacting United Way of Saskatoon and Area at 306-975-7700 or email office@unitedwaysaskatoon.ca.
2.
Make a financial donation online HERE . United Way will use your donation to purchase boxes of pads and tampons and distribute on your behalf. You can also mail-in a cheque to 100-506 25th Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 4A7.
3.
Visit your local Shoppers Drug Mart store between February 20th and March 6th to purchase menstruation products. Donation drop-off bins will be located at the front of the store for your convenience.
How is my donation helping?
Due to COVID-19, our distribution plan has also changed. Typically, Tampon Tuesday provides over half of the product to individuals attending YXE Connects – a one-stop shop for vulnerable individuals to access services in one place, on one day. This year United Way will work one-on-one with our community partners to distribute the products collected and purchased through cash donations where the need is the greatest.
In 2020 over 1950 packages were collected and over $5000 raised.
Thank you
On behalf of our Labour and United Way Partnership, thank you for your 2021 donations. Your concern, compassion, and generous spirit enables vulnerable individuals to have free access to these basic necessities. We sincerely appreciate these gifts and the local love you have shared!
Thank you to Shoppers Drug Mart for supporting Tampon Tuesday for the past four years and for continuing your generosity again in 2021.
